Slam Gybe

The Slam Gybe is a handy trick to save you from losing ground downwind or where you have limited space to turn on a busy stretch of water, plus it's a useful marginal or lightwind manoeuvre. Get it dialed and learn to whip it around with heaps of spray and you have the basics of the Willy Skipper too!

Start out by practising in light breeze so you can get the feel of the rig with less power and speed. You can use almost any board that floats you in marginal or stronger winds and medium size rigs and up to 6.5 or 7m sails for the average size sailor will be easy to handle.
