Ziviney - The Movie
The latest clip from the Ziviney Gang of Windsurfers based on the German Island of Norderney doing their National Service! After a series of clips they made longer movie!
Here's the story in their own words:
When Meikel first uttered the idea of making a movie about surfing and our live as civilian service-guys on the island Norderney we were a bit sceptic. It did not sound really easy. And we were right.
We did not know how to approach such a project and we had little experience in filming. There were lots of things to consider. How to film, how much zoom, which angle and so on. Due to the fact that we were a group of around 20 people it was difficult to manage and coordinate all the things which had to be done.
First we needed to catch good action, kind of problematic when you have to consider working time and the tide. And who wants to stand on the beach when the others rock the water??! Filming in winter was especially difficult because the Cam gave up after 15 minutes and you could not move your fingers any more.
The Ziviney-Project grew consistently. We got sponsored by Panasonic with 2 Cams, got a lot of support from other people, had several articles in newspapers and there was our blog ziviney.de which had to be kept up to date. We decided to give the project a structure.
We formed groups of 2 to 4 people to split up the work. This helped us a lot when we came to the point where we had to create a story, increase the PR, chose the music, work on the special effects and start to create the movie from all the different pieces.
Again we needed to get information on how to do the cutting, how to use different programs and how to do Slowmotion and other specialeffects. The thing which was most difficult was an effect we created with a special construction and the introduction of the riders which appear during the movie.
Our computers had a hard time converting unbelievable amounts of data and sometimes we were close to a crash. Finally, after almost eight months, the movie is finished. Our intention was to give the people outside a glimpse on the time we spent together on Norderney with all its different aspects of life. We believe that the movie pretty nice lives up to that.
Enjoy it!!
