"It all started by wanting to make a light wind board but I couldn’t decide on a flat rocker for onshore Punta Blanca, or a bendy one for cross-off Glass beach or Majanicho” explains the Fuerteventura-based shaper. "To make 2 different ones is not really my style. Too many boards to carry around and too expensive as well! Also, in light cross-off conditions it’s very useful to be able to plane early and get upwind well so you get more waves. So because I found it hard to decide on the rockerline, that got me thinking about a flex tail again and why it didn’t work so well the first time ‘round. A year of testing later it seems like I´ve found the solution.”

It sounds like some of Bouke’s genuine, non-sponsored paying customers agrees. 85 kilo German wavesailor Sönke Biehl ordered a custom 94L 232x61cm shape similar to Bouke's original prototype. This is what he had to say...
"After 6 sessions on the water here in Germany with my new flex tail I think I know it quite well now. I have not had a big side shore day yet, but everything else has been very promising. When testing it against my friend Michael’s 90-litre Witchcraft, the flex tail was much better, especially when turning. But it also planes very quickly and is well-controllable. A really good concept. To have such a large board to be as radical, whilst still being an early planer is great.
