Pioneered by long-time Cabarete resident Marcus Boehm - founder of the original Cabarete Kids' Team that raised money to send local kids to school and provide them with windsurfing gear, and even sent competitors to PWA-level events - the contest now has major backing from the Ministries and commercial sponsors who value the asset that this palm-fringed resort and ocean sports enthusiasts heaven provide.

This year Jose Luengo was crowned the new 'Master of the Ocean 2012' after four days of intense competition.

Joining him on the podium were Enmanuel Rondon in second place and Luciano Gonzalez in third.

In the expression session former PWA Pro Tony García took-out the windsurf division.
