The Global Wave Conference, an international conference on Wave Protection takes place in two of the most beautiful destinations on the planet - Biarritz, France (Monday Oct 24th) and San Sebastian-Donostia, Spain (Oct 25th).
Gathering key international marine water quality non-profit whose mission is to protect waves, this unique event offers the opportunity to share perspectives and points of view and understand respective strategies and tactics. Surfers Against Sewage, Save the Waves, WiLDCOAST, Surf Protection Society, National Surfing Reserves, Salvem O Surf and Surfrider Foundation will all take attend.
The Value of Waves
This conference, also open to the general public, will help to reflect upon the value of waves. To surfers, ocean waves are invaluable and should not be interfered with under any circumstances. However, they are not held in the same esteem by wider society.
“Good” surfing waves are unique. Like ski resorts. And they are therefore also a valuable source of income for coastal communities and should be protected for commercial as well as environmental reasons.
