Delta Force

A new 'Delta Wing' Fin concept from Maui Ultra Fins. Here's the unedited Press Release...

DELTA - the shape to come?

Maui Ultra Fins next generation fin under test on Maui

As three years ago with the revolutionary X-Fin series, Maui Ultra Fins has yet again another radical fin design under development which is currently under test on Maui, Hawaii. With the new DELTA WING SERIES all advantages of delta wings as they are known from supersonic fighter type aircraft applications have been transferred to fins. The specific features are:

fast by allowing relatively very thin foils pointing extremely high angle of attack possible due to flow enhancement by leading edge vortices

jibing provides very stable and fast jibing super short no control problems due to long span (e.g. 95 l board can be sailed with 16 cm Delta fin compared to a 30 cm Ride fin)

weed resistant due to the high rake of 55 degrees shallow water resistant due to short length

very mild spin-out behaviour due to leading edge vortices

In summary, the DELTA WING SERIES promises a universal fin for windsurfing, surfing and kiting with a wide range of applications as wave freestyle, ride, slalom and speed.

The DELTA fin on its way to revolutionize board sailing again.
