Angulo Tests Asymmetric Fins for Black Project

Monday 13th June, 2011 - 9:25am

Black Project Fins ramped-up their asymmetric fins concept by signing wavesailing Guru Mark Angulo onto the team. Here's their Press Release story. Pic Vinnie / GlobalShots

Mark Angulo Joins Black Project

10th June 2011

Mark needs no introduction, his constant thirst for innovation and go for it attitude make him one of the most influential wave sailors of all time. When I first saw Windsurfing The Movie II where Mark picked up an old board and fin commenting that 'Fins haven't changed much'  I knew that we had to have him try our fins. A few months down the line and we are thrilled to be able to report that Mark Angulo is now riding for Black Project Fins and is already working closely with Tom so that we can continue to develop the range and ensure that our goal of making the best fins possible is realized.

When Mark first tried his new fins this was his response:

'So I put on the 14s as a twin setup on my new 7'1" and let me just say it worked out very nicely. My first real day on a new board and I would expect some weirdness, first time with new fins, should have been some drama or adjusting. Not even. Huge Mutants, Fat 360s, Giant Goiters, all day. Super happy with your fins. No trips on the bottom turns, nice action, grippy, yet releasing when I push. Sick!'

Since then he has gone on to try a number of different set ups and we'll be reporting back about his testing and ideas another day so stay tuned.

Thanks to Mark's radical style and desire to break norms his custom board range is becoming increasingly popular in Hawaii and further afield so we are pleased to also announce at this time that Mark Angulo Customs  will now be available complete with Black Project Fins as standard. We are thrilled that our two growing Hawaiian businesses can work together to ensure that you get the best gear possible.

Mark is riding combinations of the WaveMULTI and WaveTHRUSTERS grab yours in the store today and find out for yourself what a difference Black Project Fins will make to your wave sailing.
