AHD Light Wind Range - AFS-1

Saturday 4th December, 2010 - 11:35am

Here's the launch PR

Searching for wind, in the future?

Fly into the windsurf foiling era
Target 0-15 knots- The answer is in the air

Innovation, pure performance, sensations, balance, magic
Strong words: still they can't describe the rider's feelings when he flies, well above water, close to 3 times faster than the wind, from 7 knots of wind speed upwards.
Years of test and tweaking now allow us to present a progressive board which will allow you to learn and live unique sensations!
What is Airfoil Surfing?
This is a different way of expressing oneself on the water. This is sailing well above the sea, with different references, a different feet stance and totally different toy.
It's a game of concentration and balance

Who's that for?

The AFS-1 can be mastered by any experienced windsurfer who knows how to get a standard board on a fast plane and jibe it (mastering all funboard techniques).
Still, they must accept to take the time to learn « foiling » step by step.

How?
The AFS-1 board is a" progressive" concept.
Its 112 liters volume is average, and allows getting quickly onto a plane.
When flying, there is very little pull from the rig into the arms. Concentration, anticipation and balance between both feet positions are the keys to exhilaration. .
There are two foil boxes in the board, in order to facilitate the rider's progresses:

Phase 1
The first box, the forward one, is to be used surfing strapless.
It shall allow learning and discovering the foil, then mastering it.

Phase 2
The second box, further aft, is to be used with feet in the foot-straps.
Feet must be spread apart as much as possible, when remaining in a comfortable position.
From 7 knots of wind speed, the AFS-1, with a 7.5 sqm sail, has the potential to fly above water!

Construction:
- The AFS-1 board
This board has a « window-opening » in the nose.
This will allow researching a maximum foiling speed without letting the wind put you out of balance during the flight.
