2011 Pura Vida Cornwall Wave Classic Gwithian

Thursday 20th October, 2011 - 8:21am

PRESS RELEASE

Pura Vida Cornwall Wave Classic 2011, October 28th to 30th.

Exciting times ahead as we lead up to the Cornwall wave Classic kicking off in less than 10 days time! It couldn't be more exciting in all fleets with everything to fight for on the podium, and it would only take the top runners to drop a few places and anyone with a good result is still in for a shot at the top 3 places. Not wanting to tempt fate but the long range forecast is looking windy........

Pre-registration is now open online at www.cornwallwaveclassic.co.uk so please save yourself a little money and help us get you registered in advance so we can hit the water as early as possible!

Entry Fees:
Students, Ladies and Youths - £30 (£25 if pre-registered)

Amateurs and Masters - £45 (£40 if pre-registered)

Professionals - £55 (£50 if pre-registered)

PLEASE NOTE: Online registration will close on Wednesday 26th October 2011 at 8pm and all cheques must have been posted first class by 8am that morning.

Event HQ for the duration will be the Sandsifter (TR27 5ED) with Pros able to register there on the Thursday Night between 8pm and 10pm and for late entries on Friday morning at 9am closing at 9.30 for first heat 10am. The amateur sailors will be able to register on friday night from 8pm till 10pm and late entries on Saturday between 9am closing at 10.00 for first heat at 10.30. Competition briefing will be at 9.00am each day at Sandsifter unless advertised otherwise.

Once again we will be running the coveted team format where the winning team can win a case of Ale!! Scoring is real straight forward, each team of 3 Amateur sailors enters the comp as individuals and your results are combined to give you an overall score. The lowest score wins - simples! There will be pro-riders on hand to give you advice, and don't forget to think of a good team name, we encourage all UK shops/suppliers to enter a team, and if you don't have one we can put you in one on the day to make it more fun!

A huge thanks must go out already this year to our Headline Sponsors at Franklin and Marshall, an outdoors clothing brand full of style that are putting a lot back into sports at the moment all across the globe. Check out their threads at www.franklinandmarshall.com/eng

Team Rider Chris Murray said - 'Last year was epic, and I'm sure we'll get wind again as Cornwall always seems to deliver' he got signed up last year by Franklin and Marshall - 'It's great to see them getting more involved with windsurfing and will certainly become a well-known brand and hopefully involved in even more UK events from here'

Look out in the next issue of boards mag to win a load of their awesome clothing in a reader comp, and be sure to follow the updates online at www.boards.co.uk, www.boardseeker.com and on our official website www.cornwallwaveclassic.co.uk

There are goody bags for everyone that enters, £1000 prize money for the pros, Pura Vida Custom will be giving away another custom board to an amateur as chosen by the judges and team, No Limitz are giving away a 100% Carbon mast and plenty more prizes from the industry and clothing by Franklin and Marshall

The Cornwall Wave Classic is Sponored by Franklin and Marshall, hosted by Pura Vida Boardriders and the BWA, with support from No Limitz Masts, RB Sails and Sandsifter, with thanks to the National Trust and Duchy of Cornwall.

Hope to see you there, BWA Team and Pura Vida
