Cervantes Speed 2011

Besides having a 20-30 knot sea breeze forecast to get the blood pumping for Windsurfing Perth’s Cervantes Speed 2011 Event, what else could you do to raise the excitement stakes? 'I know, just add a helicopter...'

Professional photographer Colin Leonhardt of windsurfaustralia.com teamed up with Heliwest and organised the use of a chopper for the weekend offering punters and Pros alike the experience of a lifetime.
The event went a little something like this:
Saturday Speed Day was run just north from Thirsty Point, where a small sand spit juts out to sea creating about 20-30m of flat water to crank-up maximum speed on. A briefing was held at 12pm and then it was on for young and old as 51 competitors took to the water vying for the Cervantes Speed King title!
